Hazelnuts: exporters react swiftly

ORDU. Around 570,000 metric tonnes of this year's production, which comprises 800,000 metric tonnes, have already been sold. This figure includes the 80,000 metric tonnes purchased by the TMO. Meanwhile, the epxorters have reacted swiftly to the developments in the market.

Most exporters are reckoned to be sufficiently covered to meet their contracts. At the same time, high demand, not least due to the disappointing crop in Italy, is prompting speculations.

Supply squeeze expected in the second half of the season

A exports are estimated at 550,000 to 650,000 metric tonnes and domestic consumption should range at 200,000 to 250,000 metric tonnes, supplies may run low towards ther end of the season and the market may depend on the TMO.
