KASHMAR. The Iran Dried Fruits Exporters Association has recently revised the production estimates for 2019/2020. Due to their low price, sultanas are in particularly high demand in the export market. The traders in Iran are, however, anything but satisfied with the current demand situation.

Low export prices for sultanas

Iran shipped a total of 113,673 metric tonnes worth USD 152.938 million of raisins overseas in 2018. With 59.742 metric tonnes sultanas account for as much as 53% of this amount. The demand for sultanas is particularly high as the prices range lower than for other raisin varieties. While the average export price for sultanas ranges at USD 1.13 per kg, the average export prices for raisins ranges much higher at USD 1.35 per kg.
