Almonds: experts increase crop forecast

MADRID/SACRAMENTO. Perfect weather conditions ensured a good flowering period in the Californian almond growing areas, despite the delayed start of flowering. Experts are optimistic about the production in 2020.

Up to 1.27 million mt of almonds

The experts of Blue Diamond Almonds have increased their production forecast for this year's crop from 1.25 million to 1.27 million metric tonnes, thanks to the good weather conditions. This would be an increase of around 11% compared to the 2019 crop. According to current data from the Almond Board of California, 1.148 million metric tonnes have been produced in the 2019/2020 season so far, which was originally estimated at less than 1 million metric tonnes.
