AYDIN. Despite the weak trading week due to the public holidays, the Turkish dried fig market experienced noticeable price corrections. Compared to last week...

... export prices for most sizes increased by around USD 300 per metric tonne. As market players report, hardly any goods of export quality are still available on the free market, which should ensure higher prices in the coming months until the new crop arrives. Compared to the last few years, however, export prices are still at a moderate level, especially considering that record prices were demanded last year. In addition, there were some extreme temperature fluctuations in the last eight to ten days - from over 40°C down to 20°C, including snow at higher altitudes. This causes stress for the trees and could have a negative effect on this year's yield. However, everything should still be in order, because the critical phase of fertilization only runs from mid to end of June. At this time, such temperature fluctuations would be problematic.
