MALATYA. Turkey's apricot harvest is expected to start early, at the end of June. Harvesting should be in full swing by mid-July.

More large fruits expected

Sine official production estimates still need to be issued market players are only reckoning with uniform market prices by the end of June. Unofficial production estimates for dried apricots range at 80,000-120,000 metric tonnes, which is similar in size to last year. The cold and rainy weather is, however, expected to have an impact on yields. Traders currently reckon that prices will remain remain firm with only limited space for a downward turn. Reports state that the trees are bearing less apricots this year, meaning that more larger fruits are to be expected. Market players are, therefore, reckoning with large supplies of jumbo fruits as well as the sizes no 1 to no 3 should be available.
