ORDU. Buyers are speculating on lower prices for hazelnuts in the new season. Some suppliers have already complied with this wish.

Exporters compete for buyers

Farmgate prices declined to TRY 41 per kg last week and have maintained this level ever since. Export prices have, consequently, taken a dip. Exporters are, in addition, competing for buyers to conduct some sales before the season draws to a close.

New crop is to trade lower

On the buyer side there, however, is little interest in additional deliveries and developments relating to the new crop are under scrutiny. Current crop estimates and the price trend of the last two weeks encourage buyers to reckon with lower prices in 2020/202. Additional pressure is coming from Italy where cheap offers are being issued.

Reports state that relatively few shipments are booked for Q4 as buyers appear to be waiting for prices to come down. Large exporters, however, prefer to wait for the TMO to issue prices, which is not expected until July. Some cheap offers for the new crop are, howver, available since there are some small exporters want to make sure they have enough orders on their books.
