MANISA. Although the TMO has set higher bid prices for June, the farmgate prices for type 9 sultanas still...

... range below TRY 10 per kg. Trading is also largely subdued at the commodity exchanges.

Turkey's weekly exports currently range at 4,000 mt. They are driven by long-term contracts and occasional spot purchases and are expected to continue at this pace until the end of the season. Prices should remain relative firm over the next few weeks. With prices of USD 1.70 per kg FOB Izmir the new crop is trading in a similar price range as last year's crop. Many buyers are not really interested in long-term contracts at present.

Less optimistic reports disregarding, the INC estimates Turkey's production at 300,000 metric tonnes. Although yields should be similar to last year, the next few weeks will prove decisive for production. Global seedless dried raisin production is set to reach 1.3 million metric tonnes in 2020/2021. While smaller yields are expected in the US and China, production is set to rise in Iran and in India.
