Pine nuts: prices to take a dip at the turn of the year

BEIJING. As pine nut suppliers in Russia continue to insist on high prices, processors in China are looking for alternative origins. Mongolia is highly popular.

Exporters in China state that traders in Russia are still demanding comparatively high prices. The export prices for Pinus sibirica, 950 pcs/100g have stabilised at USD 16.50/kg CFR Hamburg. At the same time, however, the uptick in buying has driven up prices in Mongolia. Only a few years back Mongolia was considered one of the most important pine nut growers next to Russia and China.
