Pumpkin seeds: exports delayed in Dalian

BEIJING/DALIAN. Subdued demand and a surge in coronavirus cases in Dalian are posing a challenge for China's pumpkin kernel exporters.

Prices remain firm

Export business with pumpkin kernels has been slow in China this season. To make matters worse, customs and the export authority CIQ are confrotned with a surge in coronavirus cases in Dalian, which is causing further delays in the handling of export transactions. With staff in quarantine containers cannot be released for shipment.

This has prompted many traders to prefer not to sell before the Chinese New Year. Freight charges are, however, holding firm at USD 4,500 for a 20' container. Only one a year ago prices ranged much lower at USD
