Dried apricots: exporters in trouble

MALATYA. Rising farmgate prices, high freight costs and exchange rate fluctuations are currently giving Turkish exporters a hard time. In addition, there are concerns about the development of the new crop, as the growing areas are exposed to strong weather fluctuations.

High buying interest remains absent

As raw materials for the no. 3 and no. 4 varieties are now in short supply, market players are reporting higher farmgate prices which are now at TRY 23-24/kg. However, some producers are still holding back their goods and are waiting for March and April to pass, as these months often prove to be decisive for the new crop.
