Sultanas: too early for reliable estimates

MANISA. The ups and downs in the Turkish lira have rendered export prices highly volatile. Prices also differ considerably for organic sultanas.

All eyes are on the vines

Trading has remained largely subdued in Turkey. Demand is low in the export market and trading subdued at the Izmir Stock Exchange. Type 7 sultanas were recently quoted at TRY 11/kg here. Although market players had reckoned that prices would rise when the TMO starts to sell, this has not happened yet. Growers are, nevertheless, holding back supplies as they prefer to wait and see how the vines will develop.
