Cumin: production estimates are not that bad

TEHRAN. Black cumin is mainly grown in Iran’s Khorasan Razavi province. Global demand is normally high with export destinations located in more than 40 countries. Although traders report that the pandemic has disrupted exports, production estimates are not that bad.

Production to range at 12,000 mt

The Khorazan Razavi Agricultural Organization estimates that cumin has been planted on an area of 18,800 ha this year. As much as 11,200 ha require irrigation and 7,600 ha depend on rain. Dried cumin production should range at 12,000 mt. Cumin is exported to more than 40 countries from Khorasan Razavi including France, Germany and Spain, Sweden, Denmark and Italy, Poland and the Czech Republic in the EU, as well as Australia, the USA and China and India.
