Almond trees have been cultivated by mankind for more than 4,000 years. While almonds are said to originate in Southwest Asia, the main cultivation areas are now located in California, the Mediterranean and Pakistan and Iran.

In different processing stages, almonds primarily play an important role in the snack and sweets industry as well as in cosmetics. BEIJING. As the USDA’s Foreign Agricultural Service’s Tree Nuts Annual for China highlights, the country will remain one of the world’s leading markets for tree nuts. Changing consumer habits offer new market potentials amid a challenging trading environment and high costs. Expanding domestic production and economic challenges will, however, restrain the import demand for most US tree nuts in MY 2026/2027, with the noted exception of almonds.

El Niño could have a significant impact on the supply of coconut products and, consequently, on prices in 2027. Vietnam’s coconut exports to the US rose significantly year-on-year.
