MADRID. Spain’s almond exports failed to reach 100,000 mt in the first seven months of the season. Local market prices are firm.

Exports below 100,000 mt

Although February was quite a strong export month, total shipments are still down on last year. At 14,895 mt monthly exports exceeded last year’s 13,199 mt by 13% as official data compiled by the government and AEOFRUSE, the Spanish Association of Nut and Carob Producers, shows.

Yet, total exports stand 6% lower at 94,833 mt. Shipments to the three leading destinations, France, Germany and Italy have fallen. By contrast, the USA have re-emerged in the top ten chart as only non-European country with an impressive near-triple rise in shipments.
