PRAGUE/BRUSSELS. Czech market players are cautiously optimistic about the 2026 poppy seed crop. Low stock levels are supporting prices. EU exports rose once again towards the end of the season.

Mixed conditions

Market players are cautiously optimistic about the Czech poppy seed crop. Growing conditions varied, in some cases significantly, across the different growing regions, ranging from favourable to challenging. This was reported by the experts at Chelmer Foods in their latest report. Many market players are confident that the crop is currently developing well – at present, there are no signs to suggest that serious yield losses are to be expected.
