OLOMOUC. Heavy rainfall and storms are causing concern for Czech poppy seed traders. The unfavourable weather conditions could have a negative impact on yields.

Cultivation up by just under 4%

In recent weeks, parts of the Czech Republic have been repeatedly hit by heavy rainfall, often accompanied by storms. Some market players now fear that the excessive rainfall could have a negative impact on the Czech poppy seed crop. Other traders, however, report that the poppy fields have so far withstood the storms and that no significant damage has been reported.
