Blue poppy seeds: exports 15% lower than the 10-year average

CHRUDIM/ANKARA. Czech poppy seeds exports were significantly lower in the first months of this season. However, market players no longer expect price corrections before the turn of the year.

Price corrections are foreseeable

In the Czech market, blue poppy seed prices have stabilised at a level of EUR 1.90/kg FCA. Market players reckon that prices will decline after the turn of the year. In order to be able to sell the largest crop of the last few years (29,000 mt) despite the weak demand due to the coronavirus pandemic, traders and producers will not be able to avoid further price reductions.
