OLOMOUC. Czech poppy farmers are holding back their supplies. Prices have undergone a slight correction. Frost in the growing regions is causing uncertainty.

Sufficient goods available

The Czech blue poppy seed market recorded a good crop in 2025. According to official data, production totalled 31,246 mt, representing an increase of almost 15% over the previous year.

According to market players, growers currently still have ample stocks, but many are holding back on offers in the hope of achieving higher prices later in the season. However, traders are confident that these adjustments will only be minimal increases. Czech blue poppy seeds, <20 ppm morphine, are currently being offered at a level of EUR 2.12/kg
