CHRUDIM. The farmers in the Czech Republic would very much like to sell their raw seeds at higher prices, which the traders and buyers, however, refuse to pay. At the same time, there are enormous differences in price for blue poppy seeds in Turkey.

Incredible differences in price in Turkey

The prices for Czech blue poppy seeds, <10 ppm morphine remain stable at 4.25 EUR/kg DDP Germany. Since the buyers are not prepared to pay higher prices any significant increases are out of the question for the time being at least. The prices on offer in Turkey differ greatly. Premium blue poppy seeds, < 20 ppm morphine are being offered for prices starting at 3.95 EUR/kg DDP Germany. Some exporters in Turkey are, however, asking as much as 4.80 USD/kg CFR Hamburg.
