Blue poppy seeds: official crop estimates are optimistic

CHRUDIM. The poppy seed harvest in the Czech Republic is coming to an end. It is estimated that 80-90% of the fields have been harvested so far. In the meantime, the Czech Statistical Office has announced its own crop forecasts for this year.

New crop from EUR 2.16 per kg

The last poppy fields are just being harvested, with subsequent processing of the capsules to obtain the poppy seeds. Although the poppy seed season has officially been running for a month, market players are reporting sluggish trading activity. With the end of the summer holidays in large parts of Europe, overall buying interest has risen significantly again, but cannot keep up with last year's demand. This is due to the delayed start to the harvest and the general uncertainties in the market.
