Blue poppy seeds: End of price rises not yet in sight

CHRUDIM/ANKARA. This year’s disappointing crop is proving a welcome occasion for producers to charge whatever prices they want. Further prices hikes are only prevented by the reluctance of the processing industry to buy.

 

Drastic price increase

Over the last few weeks, the poppy farmers have been exercising restraint, there were virtually no offers and leaving traders to search for products for their customers.

In the meantime, a few positions are available in the market again, but as expected at a significantly higher price. No offers are available below 4.00 EUR/kg.
