CHRUDIM/BUDAPEST. Hungarian blue poppy seed traders are more than frustrated with this year's crop result. A big question mark also continues to hover over this year's poppy production in the Czech Republic.

Hail damages poppies in Hungary

Large losses have already been recorded due to a lack of rainfall; now market players say that the plants that survived the drought were surprised by hailstorms and rain showers two weeks ago. With such a quantity, exports are hardly conceivable; rather, the market will have to import additional larger quantities.
