CHRUDIM. As long as some buyers are still prepared to accept the current astronomically high prices the farmers will slowly but surely continue to drive up prices.

Prices at 10.5-year high

The number of enquiries is increasing, multiplied by the fact that buyers are contacting several traders at the same time in search of affordable blue poppy seeds. At the current price level, however, hardly any contracts are being concluded. Blue poppy seeds are trading around 4.00 EUR/kg in the Czech Republic. These are prices not seen since May 2008. Prices in Turkey have also surged to 4.63 USD/kg CFR Hamburg and have thereby reached a 10-year high.
