CHRUDIM. Turkish poppy seed traders have driven the price difference to its limits due to their struggle to remain competitive with the top growing country, the Czech Republic.

 

Turkish poppy seeds at a 3-month high
Some market players estimate the Czech poppy seed crop at 15,000-20,000 mt and production was last at a similarly low level five years ago (2013: 13,973 mt). The farmers are taking their time in selling the remaining raw seeds, which is why traders have difficulties obtaining poppy seeds, but it is also hard to find buyers at this price level.
