Blue poppy seeds: Reaching for new price highs

CHRUDIM. The supply squeeze for raw seeds is causing prices to rise further. Buyers seeking prompt deliveries will have to be prepared to pay much more.

 

Prices reach 4-year high

Traders in the Czech Republic can only provide limited offers for comparatively high prices. Blue poppy seeds, <10 ppm morphine are trading for 2.65 EUR/kg FCA Chrudim and information on the new crop is still scarce. The poppy farmers in the Czech Republic have succeeded in pushing up prices to 2.50 EUR/kg for now. The prices for blue poppy seeds have thereby reached a 4-year high and only as little as 0.15 EUR/kg are missing for prices to reach a 5-year high.
