Blue poppy seeds: sharp rise in exports

CHRUDIM. Poppy seed suppliers cut their prices unusually early in the Czech Republic. This approach is paying off as the recently issued export figures for December suggest.

Shipments to Poland rise by 130%

The Czech Republic shipped around 1,670 mt of poppy seeds overseas in December 2020, which is over a third more than in December 2019. Russia retained its position as main export destination with December shipments ranging 35% higher than a year before at 528 mt. Monthly shipments to Poland (-130% to 349 mt), Slovakia (-16% to 244 mt) and Germany (+41% to 96 mt) also ranged higher in December 2020 than in December 2019.
