CHRUDIM. Slowly but steadily, poppy seed sowing is progressing in the Czech Republic and, unlike last year, the lack of rainfall is not a problem here at the moment. However, this does not apply to all growing countries.

Drought as a risk factor

So far, farmers have sown an estimated 70% of the planned area under cultivation, but almost a third is still to be sown. Snow and frosty spring nights affected the work in the fields and possibly also the development of the plants. However, it remains to be seen what impact these circumstances will have on the yield.
