Blue poppy seeds: traders react with price corrections

CHRUDIM/ANKARA. Recently, blue poppy seed traders in the Czech Republic had increased their export prices due to the stronger Czech koruna. This week, new price adjustments were made.

Higher prices will not last

Within a very short period of time, blue poppy seed prices had risen from EUR 2,76 per kg to EUR 2,86 per kg in mid-February. This development came as a surprise to many market players in view of the calm market situation and was justified by traders with the significantly firmer koruna. However, in the last few days the exchange rate has stabilised again, supported by the stronger euro, and is at a similar level to that at the end of December 2019.
