NEW DELHI/HO CHI MINH. Demand has been a key player for market dynamics in Burkina Faso and Togo. In Vietnam, buyers and sellers are having trouble coming to terms for cashews. In India, the festival season is impacting demand. Global production will range lower than last year.

High demand in Burkina Faso and Togo

Burkina Faso’s cashew market remained stable throughout the first half of the year. To help local factories, the government temporarily restricted exports and set a minimum price of USD 0.64/kg, though strong factory demand in areas such as Bobo-Dioulasso pushed actual prices well above that level. In the second quarter, tighter supplies and competition between exporters and local processors kept farmgate prices high at USD 0.67-0.92/kg.
