Cashews: the farmgate price riddle

HANOI. The demand for Vietnamese cashews is currently very high. This usually also drives up the RCN prices - instead, they have declined noticeably.

Massive import increases

Vietnamese market players are currently showing great buying interest. This leads to very high imports: Around 300,000 mt were imported in March, with an estimated value of USD 490 million. Extreme increases can be seen in import values for the whole of Q1 2021, with a total of 539,000 mt of cashew nuts worth USD 839 million being imported in the first three months of the year, representing a volume increase of a good 174% year-on-year.
