NEW DELHI/HO CHI MINH. Demand is still surprisingly strong for cashews in India. Suppliers are not exactly happy with the way in which buyers are acting in Vietnam. Prices are on the move.

Strong demand in India

In India, demand and buyer inquiries for cashew kernels have remained strong across most grades, with active purchasing keeping local prices steady and firm. During the first seven months of 2026, India’s imports of raw cashew nuts fell by roughly 8% compared to the same period last year, mainly because of shipping delays from Côte d'Ivoire and delayed exports from Burkina Faso and Togo. Expectation is that total raw cashew imports for the full year will cross 1.2 million mt.
