NEW DELHI. Demand has picked up for cashews in India. Vietnam holds a 90% market share in the US.

Demand picks up in India

Cashews have trading in a firm range in India’s domestic market in recent weeks. Yet, demand has risen as wholesalers and sweet makers bought large supplies before the Hindu festivals of Raksha Bandhan, Janmashtami and Ganesh Chaturthi, which are celebrated from the end of August to mid-September 2026. Buyers in northern, western and major cashew-producing areas actively purchased all varieties, including whole cashews, split kernels, and broken pieces.
