JAKARTA/COLOMBO. The global rise in interest in vegan coconut-based substitutes, including dairy products, is currently not enough to consolidate prices in the coconut market.

Whereas the prices for soy and palm oil moved up at the beginning of the year, the prices coconut oil held their ground against the predominant trend in the oil market. The large supplies and stable demand are steadily pushing prices down. Market players reckon that a more violent jolt is required in the major oil markets to drive up the prices for coconut oil.
