MALATYA. The weather in Malatya is proving favourable for the harvesting and drying of this year’s apricots, and attention is now fully focused on the new crop. The 28th Apricot Festival was, accordingly, marked by a sense of optimism.

Ideal weather for drying and harvesting

Conditions in Malatya are currently favourable for the apricot harvest. According to the Turkish Meteorological Service, night-time temperatures of 19 to 21°C and daytime highs of up to 37°C are expected, which is ideal for drying the fruit. The harvest is continuing at full speed, whilst drying and pitting are proceeding in parallel. In the higher-altitude growing regions, the harvest is set to begin in the coming days.
