MALATYA. Turkish farmers expect the main part of the apricot harvest to begin around 20 June. In some areas, the early varieties are already being harvested. Exports remain sluggish, whilst price indications remain stable.

Improved situation for seasonal workers

A sunny week is expected for the Malatya region, with temperatures of 15-17°C at night and 30-33°C during the day. Market players expect apricot development to accelerate as temperatures rise. In some areas, the harvest of early apricot varieties has already begun, but the actual start of the harvest is expected around 20 June. Yield estimates are currently underway and are expected to be finalised by the start of the harvest. The market generally expects a production of 80,000 to 85,000 mt of dried apricots.
