MALATYA. Last week, it transpired that a surprsingly large amount of apricots are hollow or do no bear much yellow fruit. This has prompted a run on large fruits.

Further price surges expected

While the harvest was in full swing, it transpired last week that surprisingly many apricots are hollow inside and display little yellow flesh. Apricots normally offered as jumbos are currently mainly being sold as number 2 sized apricots. Jumbos and number 1apricots are virtually sold out. Suppliers are eager to buy up the limited supplies of large fruits as quickly as possible, which has sparked a price hike for number 2 and number 8 apricots.
