MALATYA. Some dried fruit suppliers in Turkey tried to profit from the panic caused by the limited supply of big dried apricots. They are now, however, forced to correct their prices.

High prices stand no chance

Exporters who had already raised their offers have suddenly lowered their prices by up to 300 USD/mt. The prices are expected to fall by another 100 – 200 USD/mt in the upcoming weeks, which should ensure a relatively uniform price level. Many buyers found the offers of up to 3,600 USD/mt FOB Mersin for dried apricots, size no. 2, rather unappealing, and even more so for long-term contracts.
