Dried figs: 2025 production lower than expected

AYDIN/REUS. Fig cultivation is being promoted in the Turkish province of Aydın. Unfavourable weather conditions meant that Turkish production in 2025 was lower than expected.

Measures to strengthen the sector

In Aydın, new measures are being implemented to boost fig production. Under the leadership of the Buharkent municipality, pollinator fig orchards (Caprifigs) from the first and second project phases have been opened. A total of 900 saplings were planted using modern irrigation systems. The aim of the project is to reduce producers’ dependence on external sources, cut costs and improve quality.
