Dried figs: anxious wait for analysis results

AYDIN. Farmers in Turkey's growing regions have finished their fig harvest, while exporters have published their first indicative price lists. Much now depends on the results of quality controls.

Exporters prefer to wait

Market players in the Turkish fig-growing region of Aydin report that the market remains chaotic. Farmers say that exporters are buying virtually no raw materials as they wait for the analysis results of their first exports, which begin on 15 October. Last year, numerous shipments were rejected due to excessive pesticide levels, making exporters cautious. In addition, many of them are spending this week at the Anuga food fair in Cologne.
