Dried figs: last chance before Christmas

AYDIN. Although Turkey's dried fig exporters are trying everything in their power to ship deliveries before Christmas, exports lag well behind last year.

Exports down on last year

Export demand ranges much lower than last year. Christmas delivers the highest turnovers in the export market. As little as 22,310 mt have, however, been shipped overseas this season so far, around 1,500 mt less than in the same period last year. Weekly exports also only range at 1,850 mt, down on the 2,126 mt shipped at this time last year. Dried fig exports from Aydin are valued at USD 70.22 million since the start of the season.
