Dried figs: delay in the pollination phase

AYDIN. Due to the weather, the pollination phase in the Turkish fig province of Aydin is set to start a little later than usual this year. The INC Sustainability Award 2025 was presented to a project in the Turkish dried fig sector.

Feast of the Sacrifice as a key date

In the Turkish province of Aydin, temperatures are expected to rise again to 28-31°C in the coming days, after it has been a little cooler in the meantime. This will be accompanied by much-needed rainfall. However, according to market players, this will lead to the fruiting period in the fig plantations being postponed by around one to two weeks. It usually begins at the end of May/beginning of June; this year, however, the start could be delayed until the end of the Feast of Sacrifice on 9 June.
