Dried figs: Early start to the season and good production estimates

AYDIN/TEHRAN. The export of dried figs should be able to start as 26 September. In addition, the current production estimates range higher than last year.

Prices at last year's level

Due to higher yields the dried fig production is epxted to rise in Turkey this year. Reports state that production is to range at an estimated 89,000 metric tonnes and the quality is reckoned to be the highest in ten years. Small fruits, sizes no 5-6 and smaller, should however predominate production . The new crop is currently trading on a similar level as last year around this time. Organic dried figs are trading in a range of USD 5.40-5.80 per kg FOB Izmir. It should, however, be noted that rain may still have an impact
