Dried figs: exporters are cautious

AYDIN. Turkish dried fig exports doubled last week. With the start of the Eid Al-Adha celebrations, the market has quietened down. Prices remain unchanged.

Little incentive

In Aydın, it remains warm this week with daytime temperatures of 30-34°C; nights are expected to cool down to 17-19°C. The fig trees are developing well. The market remains quiet this week and, as in the previous week, commodity prices for all varieties stand at TRY 150-180/kg.

Despite all the precautions and checks undertaken this season, the Turkish dried fig market has seen numerous returns, with shipments rejected at the EU border due to elevated aflatoxin and ochratoxin levels. Exporters have acted to the best of their knowledg
