AYDIN. Irrespective of the first INC production estimates, which were issued at the end of May, reliable estimates will only become available over the next few weeks.

70,000 mt are by no means final

Trading activities are subdued in Turkey as god quality figs are no longer available in the free market. Since figs mature much later than apricots or grapes, reliable production estimates are not issued before the end of July. The recently published INC estimate of 70,000 mt will most probably be revised. The new crop should not be on offer until August and exporting should start by the end of September. Officially, the export season will start on 01 October.
