AYDIN. Attention is presently centred on the elections in mid-May and there is little stimulus for dried figs in Turkey. EU imports declined by 12% in 2022.

Firm market

Weather conditions are normal for this time of year in Aydin with daytime temperatures ranging at 23-26C (73-78F) and night-time temperatures at 7-12C (44-54F). The occassional rains are also good for the development of the trees. Raw figs are no longer available and trading is moderate. As supplies can keep up with demand, which is good, the market is firm. The election is the central issue at present.

Local prices range at TRY 45-68/kg and the export prices for no 2 Lerida dried figs at USD 5,600/mt FOB Izmir. Organic no 3 and no 4 Lerida dried
