AYDIN. Turkish traders had high expectations for dried fig production in 2019/20, while preliminary official figures were in line with the average.

Just 70,000 mt instead of 90,000 mt
During the INC World Nut and Dried Fruit Congress, participants were given an initial preview of the 2019/20 dry fig season, with global production expected to rise by 3.4% to 139,500 mt. Combined with the carry-over from this season, the total availability is estimated at 152,700 mt, 4,500 mt more than in 2018/19.

In the Turkish dried fig market, traders had already mentioned quantities of 90,000 mt, which would have amounted to an above-average result. The production volume announced last week is currently only 70,000 mt. H
