AYDIN/MACAO. Global dried fig production is expected to fall this year. In Turkey, however, the outcome is expected to be similar to last year’s. The mycotoxin issue is weighing heavily on the market.

Turkey expects 70,000 mt

Last week, this year’s congress of the International Nut and Dried Fruit Council took place in Macao. The estimates for global dried fig production in 2026/27 were rather sobering. In total, just 145,700 mt of dried figs are expected to be produced in the coming season, which would be around 7% less than last year’s figure of 156,400 mt. For Turkey, the main producer, a moderate yield of 70,000 mt is currently expected, which is in line with last year’s figure and would even be 10,000 mt above the 2024/25 production of 60,0
