Dried figs: Good start into the export season expected

AYDIN. The first dried figs from the new crop are to be exported on Thursday. This year's production makes a much better impression than last year.

Prices continue to decline

Official estimates state that Turkey's dried fig production ranges at 90,000 metric tonnes this year.. The market has witnessed the largest crop in years and the quality is impressive. The prices for large dried figs have risen nominally this week with no 2, for instance, trading in a range of USD 2.70-2.75 per metric tonne FOB Izmir. Contrary to this there are sufficient supplies of smaller fruits and the prices have continued to fall with no 4 dried figs t rading in a range of USD 4.15-4.20 per kg.

MALATYA. The shortage of goods and the upcoming Ramadan mean that there is currently little activity on the Turkish dried apricot market. Exports are also weak. However, market players expect new momentum from March onwards.
