Dried figs: growers far from happy with prices

AYDIN. Producers are unhappy with the current price developments for figs. Exports are still trailing behind last year.

Call on TMO to act fast

At 23-26C (73-79F) at night and 38-41C (100-106F) throughout the day the weather is hot again in Aydin this week. Price drops for fresh figs have caused producers to react. Although the harvest has only just begun, prices have fallen from TRY 60/kg to TRY 35-40/kg. As producers are not happy with this, they have called for the Turkish Grain Board, the TMO, to announce a base price.
