Dried figs: official crop estimates announced

AYDIN. At the beginning of this week the official production estimates for the Turkish dried fig market were announced and a start date for the 2020/2021 export season was also set.

Exports start at the end of September

In an online meeting of the Aegean Export Union, market players announced the start of the coming export season. From 30 September, dried figs from the new crop can be shipped overseas, just one day before the official start of the season on 1 October.

From the start of the current season on 26 September 2019 to 31 August 2020, a total of 66,000 metric tonnes of dried figs have been shipped overseas, which is an increase of 16% over the same period last year. The export value rose by only 5% to USD 23
